blybo Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) Hi Guys. I'd prefer not to abuse any prospective relationship with a retailer by home demo'ing something I have no intention of buying new. I'm a retailer and hate it when customers use us for "showrooming" I'd love to hear an Arcam FMJ series integrated in my own system. I'm finding my Peachtree Nova125 a bit too warm. Anybody got anything they could loan out in Melbourne for a few days or even just for an arvo playing around with my 2ch or HT systems.? Even better if you'd consider selling. This is about finding out how the "family sound" works with my slightly warm Whatmough speakers. I want to hunt down a FMJ series with dual speaker outputs but not required for the actual home demo. I'm in the eastern suburbs. Lets call it somewhere between A1 Audio and Audio Trends Edited March 17, 2014 by blybo
blybo Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 Of course, some liquid refreshment or similar could be expected in return for said demo
betty boop Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Blybo, will prob have to keep an eye on clearance pages of both Tivoli and cav, maybe will have an fmj and they both dont mind lending gear. Ps Some other options... Have you considered cryptiks Denon 2000AE has a+b and a or b for speakers the more spritely sound might suit the whatmoughs, anyways could always ask if he's keen to bring over. Definitely a bargain at nearly 1/3rd of new price and looks a beautiful 2ch amp 1
Guest Point source Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Blybo, I have a FMJ A28, you can borrow for a few days. Did think of moving it on for a Krell or something else in the last weeks. Brian

blybo Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Well Point Source's A28 is sitting nicely in my living room and bringing a bit more sparkle to my Whatmoughs. If this can be considered the family sound, it's a direction I'd like to take if I can find one for the right coin. My Peachtree Audio Nova125 is currently powering Point Source's LF50's in exchange for the Arcam demo. I feel both amps suit their temporary homes better than their permanent ones but let's see if PS thinks so too 1
blybo Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Win/Win. Point source and I both prefer the others amps, and being pretty much of equal value, a straight swap has taken place 1
Guest Point source Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Yes a Win/Win has taken place, gotta love SNA when this happens. I can't believe this integrated isn't more widely used just by word of mouth alone. Basically a curtain has lifted from my LS 50's, using CDs alone , wife and I are hearing things we hadn't heard before,no matter whether it's Opera or DOTM. Real shame it didn't have synergy with blybo's kit but I am a happy camper as is blybo. I am just working thru it now with iTunes running BitPerfect on Mac Book Pro and it's a treat, no latency detected. Just put. Linn Records digital download of Kauffman Wagner recording thru and it has detail and Power, did I mention the POWerrrr. Any way my first Class D outside the car and very impressed.
blybo Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 I did love the Nova125 and it's looks, but it needed more detailed speakers in my set up and because my speakers are inherited from my parents, who are very much still with us, I can't easily move them on. They were just too big for my parents new house and they now have a Whatmough Performance 5.1 set up which sounds fabulous I must say, even with 2ch via an Arcam AVR-360. I'm now thinking of talking to Whatmough about seeing if they would/can upgrade the tweeter and cross-over for me. My speakers are a bit of a bastard child as they were made to Absolute High End's specs for their TAS system, but still branded Whatmough, even though they were only ever sold by Absolute High End.
