lencolad Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I provide training and the old projector needs replacement. Is there a portable projector that is both bright and quiet ? I've used some Epson models that give nice crisp images but are noisy, and aren't bright enough on 'Eco' mode. 'Noisy' to me is above 35 dB. Suggestions / comments ?
betty boop Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 the epsons I've owned for ht use have been plenty bright for movies in the lounge room. cant imagine why wouldnt be quiet enough. but not really of the portable kind. as they get smaller and more compact for portability what gives way for that is the case....ie effecting the acoustic deadning capaiblity, and volume for air cooling etc. all of which results in a noisier projector. epson do list both lumens and sound level at eco so something can easily verify from their website. otherwise could contact them in sydney head office to check. they also have phone customer service which you'll find on their website as well.
lencolad Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) Thanks Al. Training in site dongas can be a challenge - cramped room = must be quiet. It's surprising how many dedicated training rooms have overhead fluro lights but only one switch, so the choice is room in darkness and see the image well or room lit but screen dull, so the projector needs to be bright - 3000 ANSI lumens. Projecting onto grey walls (if there's no screen ...) dulls the image too. Benq projectors are quieter than Epsons according to the spec sheets. Edited March 24, 2014 by lencolad

D1C Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Have a look at the Casio range. They use hybrid light source (no bulb) so they don't generate much heat therefore fans hardly turn on.
