EV Cali Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Hi I recently picked a Yamaha R8 Natural Sound Stereo Receiver up at a garage sale for $20 and am very happy with the sound but each time I turn it on instead of being set to the last function that I used ,such as Phono it is always on tuner ,plus all the preset stations are lost. All though this is not the end of the world and the amp is still usable ,it is annoying. Does any one know if this is an easy fix ,internal battery dead perhaps. Thanks in advance Robin
Zaphod Beeblebrox Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I don't have a service manual for that receiver. It likely uses a 'supercap' for memory storage. These items fail after a number of years and must be replaced. 1
VanArn Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 You can get a replacement component from Jaycar, .047 Farad / 5.5 V Super Capacitor Cat. No. RU-6700. It will be the cause of not having memory backup.
surprisetech Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 What VanArn said. Service Manual for an R-7 available here. http://www.hifiengine.com/library/yamaha/r-7.shtml You would expect that part of the circuit to be very similar.
EV Cali Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 Thanks a lot guy's .I much appreciate your feed back.
