Once Analog Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Chris Haeuler ( Sydney based vinyl enthusiast ) has given me his LP12 to restore, purchased new many years ago. His Linn has been out of action for sometime, a young family, etc. Time has passed and Chris and his wife want to start listening to their vinyl again, ( we all know the story ). A full rebuild is needed from the bottom up ; refurbished plinth, Basik power supply replaced, new suspension bolts/springs and grommets, etc, etc. OA 1
Once Analog Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 Will follow with interest, Vince. Hi Wolster, This Linn is very old, no serial number on the back, can't check vintage! OA
Telecine Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 The serial # will be engraved somewhere on the underside of the top plate. 1
Once Analog Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 The serial # will be engraved somewhere on the underside of the top plate. Telecine, checked that no serial number, may be under the sub chassis, will advise. OA 1
Luc Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Gordon will be here soon and he'll have something valuable to add too I'm guessing...me? Well my Linns not going yet...but it will be soon! Watching this with a keen eye too as to which way your headed here in the refurb which begs the question: How much are they prepared to spend here? 1
Gordon Macfarlane Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) The serial # will be engraved somewhere on the underside of the top plate. Or ink stamped on the plinth. With a turntable that age I would get a new corner braced plinth and a Nirvana Kit. Update springs , grommets and psu board. Check motor and set-up. Edited March 13, 2014 by Ozcall
