dimo Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 For anyone interested: "Original remastered LP, plus 2 LPs of companion audio on 180 gram vinyl in a tri-fold sleeve. Featuring a previously unreleased October 1969 concert from Paris, France." http://www.amazon.co.uk/Led-Zeppelin-VINYL/dp/B00IXHBOF2/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1394541384&sr=1-1&keywords=led+zeppelin
Jake Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 A bit pricey for me, and I hardly listen to LZ these days. I think they have fallen into the "past their use-by-date" in my mind. Still, thanks for the headsup. 1
garm1520 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Jake, you can't say that. It's like saying that cycling is past it's use by date. None of these things will ever happen. 1
eman Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Do we know whose mastering these yet ? Bit pricey for me too. I think they're doing the first 3 ? Why not 4 I wonder ? Might see what the extras are on the others and maybe pick one to invest in if I'm convinced.

Jake Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Interestingly, the thread over at SHF is now on page 41 before anyone has their hands on the releases. 41 pages of speculation and waffle. Classic. 1
Chill3 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Jake WTF ! Might be Jake is getting old and past use by date 2

How do we find out *if* it is Page mastered ? I haven't actually heard any Page re-mastering myself but have read a lot of negative comments .

Yeah, wasn't the Mothership a Page remaster? By all accounts he is pretty deaf and this is a major problem. (I could be wrong on all counts, just going from my dodgy memory). 2
soundfan Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I'll await further information about this reissue before I pre order. I love Led Zeppelin 1, it's a classic debut album. 1
Telecine Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Jake WTF ! Might be Jake is getting old and past use by date He's lost his mojo since he left QLD, not his fault ; ) 1

If it is someone like Chris Bellman, rock on and buy it.

manchu Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Some more info here. http://www.ledzeppelin.com/buy/ There's 3 buying options for each : super deluxe, deluxe, original. Not sure of prices cos it links through to JBHifi and there's nothing up yet.
mondie Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) Reading on another forum the mastering was done by the same fellow who did Celebration day and Mothership, supervised by Jimmy Page but not done by him. Don't have either of those LP's so dunno if this is potentially good or bad Edited March 13, 2014 by mondie

Might get Physical Graffiti when it comes out.
soundfan Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Here is a link showing what the companion discs will contain for each of the first three albums: http://www.ledzeppelin.com/news/2014/03/13/first-three-albums-newly-remastered-previously-unreleased-companion-audio 1

Sierra Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Reading on another forum the mastering was done by the same fellow who did Celebration day and Mothership, supervised by Jimmy Page but not done by him. Don't have either of those LP's so dunno if this is potentially good or bad I have Celebration Day on Vinyl, CD and Bluray and I think the recording/mixing is pretty good for a live album. I have also seen comments canning the recording ... so again different strokes for different folks. Also have all of Led Zeppelin's studio albums that I bought back in the day (my favorite band growing up) however I have not had a chance to compare Celebratin Day to any of my old Zeppelin albums as they are (all my old record collection) all still packed away in a cupboard that I cant easily get to. I would really be interested so see how the recording quality of my original LZ albums stack up to some of these 180/200g remastered/reissued that are commanding many hundereds of dollars each. The recording quality/SQ would have to be stellar in comparison to the originals to be worth the over 1000% price premium being asked.
metal beat Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Plenty of choices here. from $25 to $140. Luckily I have the Classic reissues, so no need to buy any more copies. http://www.musicdirect.com/c-829-led-zeppelin.aspx?sortfield=Price&sortdirection=ASC&perpage=24&BrandFilterID=0&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=03-13-14&utm_content=&utm_campaign=soundbytes&utm_email_address=adaug@mindspring.com 1

Well, the weight for one will have no positive effect on the sound quality for a start. Mastering FTW.

Also looking forward to an adjustment in the stoopid prices that ANY second hand copies currently get. 1
