Speaker isolation bases

Just curious, If I have a downward facing sub and carpet how much of the sound would be getting absorbed by the carpet and am I better mounting the speaker in some sort of platform to get better sound?

The carpet is of such insignificant thickness compared to the freq of a subwoofer that it will have no significant impact.
