Hey All,

I'm looking to get TT (first), and been thinking about a Yamaha gt 750... But not massively keen on the black plinth...

Just wondering how difficult and how good an idea it would be to change to a wooden plinth? Or should I just be looking at different tables...?

Are there people in Sydney that do custom plinths and is this expensive? How tough to do yourself?

Cheers for any tips.

you could give Spin Doctor Music a call in Hornsby .Goldenage analogue look great too .Or just get a nice gloss spray finnish of your choice .

Agree with turntable - not and easy change, could be done but you would need to be very good with a router and the wood working it's not just a box there are layers of particle board all routed differently with damping layer / glue between layers

Perhaps save the pennies and get a GT2000L :)

Thanks for that guys... Sounds like above me -

checked out those other tables - will look into more.

Also will have a look at the companies recommended there Brenden.. Cheers

gt2000L would be a gd long run option! ; )

oz, is revenering an option - and would that destroy item. Thought an advantage of replacing whole plinth was keeping whole original pars together (although don't know how collectible 750 is/will become?)

To be honest, my view if you like the Yamaha GT turntables is save the extra and do the hunting and get 2000

I have owned both 750 and now 2000 the 750 Is a good TT, the 2000 is in the very highest class ( IMO )

And 2000s are only going up in value ;)

Not to confuse the issue, but there is a very nice Microseki DD100 on HiFiDo at the moment nice thing, leaf damped plinth near 6 kg platter and very nice arm
