Just after one of the more affordable Sansui's from the 70's - just after a little system for the bedroom, so nothing towards the top end of the range required.  Happy to pay for shipping if required

Thanks John - I'm definitely interested, I'll just wait and see if anything else pops up in the next few days.  Well within budget, and happy to hear it as been serviced.

Hi Andy-h-h and welcome to SNA :)

You may not be aware of who Skippy124 is but let me inform you of his form... ;)

John is this website's and possibly Australia's foremost Sansui amplifier expert and with with his son (Pete-Mac) they form the Sansui/Vintage amplifier(of any make) repairers par excellence, John is indeed nonpareil when it comes to these most sought after of Japanese hifi from the 60's/70's/late80's.

If you get the chance to actually buy an amp that's been 'done over' by John then your a lucky man indeed as you will not find a better unit on sale anywhere and particularly on this site...you'll be waiting until your unshaven face touches the ground(assuming you don't shave of course and if you do then think of another metaphor for time immemorial) .

The AU-2900 is the baby of the 70's 900 series for want of a better term, you have the AU-2900,3900,4900,5900,6900,7900 and also if your keen to collect you can match them up with their relevent tuners which start with theprefix 'TU' followed by the numbers.

The AU-2900 that you've not snatched up immediately(yet...) will not be bettered on this site. It hasn't just been serviced, it's been forensically taken apart where necessary and better parts installed and the entire thing has been stripped down and put back together with love and indeed meticulous attention.

I am of course biased in this situation as I have been collecting this particular series and I have them all bar one(an arm twist is required for the final piece of black-faced bling to make my collection complete...) and John has not serviced but has gone over them and pulled them to bits and put them back together so they will withstand another 40 years of hifi duty.

Buy this with confidence Mr Andy-h-h as you'll not find better at the ridiculous price John has on this and the fact that it's been overhauled by him carries weight both here in Australia's hifi community but also around the world in communities like this of which John is a member.

Small, black, more grunt than you can poke a stick at for a bedroom system and retro uber coolness...what's not to like eh?

And of course it's instantly resalable both here and in other fora if you let it be known the Skippy124 has 'serviced' it!

Cheers Luc

Jeeze Lee,

After that recommendation I'll have to send you a commission on the sale  :D

Just feel the strength of that arm twist my friend!
