metal beat Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Al you could always sell one of your 6 or so copies to some poor SNA punter who does not own one. not me, I got mine
alistairm Posted March 8, 2014 Author Posted March 8, 2014 Shane, I originally had 8... 4 of these have been given away... none sold. Happy to share the DSD rip with people... still kills the CD! Al 1
Telecine Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Waiting on a reissue, can't justify the spend. The CD sounds pretty good, so the vinyl must be great to justify the price.
Keith Anderson Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Yeah I hope they do a reissue too, would never spend that on one record
shaky Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 ^^^^ not even that but: Geez .......why so desirable. Personally, if I don't hear another A&J song or even them on their own it'll be too soon. But to each his own/IMO/YMMV/etc I suppose 3
Candyflip Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Personally, if I don't hear another A&J song or even them on their own it'll be too soon. But to each his own/IMO/YMMV/etc I suppose Hear Hear.
metal beat Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Geez ... why so expensive? :o simple supply and demand. There is no supply
alistairm Posted March 8, 2014 Author Posted March 8, 2014 The vinyl is incredibly well pressed... right up there with the very best pressings of anything I have, and I have thousands.
zipstartcanoe Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Reference record being used for OA testing I presume?
alistairm Posted March 8, 2014 Author Posted March 8, 2014 Reference record being used for OA testing I presume? It will get a run... I'm actually thinking of doing something slightly unusual with the testing, and posting some snippets of DSD rips of the OA against my reference set up... will have to talk to Marc about whether that's feasible, but it might add some marrow the usual audio review fare. 1
Viognier Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I am happy to wait for a reissue also, though have heard it on my system when Victor has brought it around. Lovely recording. I am not that desperate to get it on vinyl, but Al I might take up your offer of the rip if that's ok.
ompyohann Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Angus and Julia Stone - Down the Way LP now available on Discogs 1
ABG Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) The vinyl is incredibly well pressed... right up there with the very best pressings of anything I have, and I have thousands. Alistairm (or any of the other vinyl aficionados here), care to mention some of the others you consider among the best pressed? Anything released lately that's grabbed you in terms of pressing quality? I'm looking to start buying a few LP's after a long hiatus and it would be nice to get the thoughts of someone as knowledgeable as you. Edited August 8, 2014 by ABG
masliko Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 (edited) Just remember that Germany is fake vinyl heaven....they are China, of the vinyl word. Oh,thats rights.....fakes ar now called "unofficial"..FFS. Edited August 10, 2014 by masliko
Guest Hensa Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 US repress up for pre-order on Amazon and others. Apparently includes 3 new songs: http://www.amazon.com/Down-Vinyl-Angus-Julia-Stone/dp/B0039OGGY8/?qid=1336683818&ref=sr_1_2&ie=UTF8&sr=8-2 http://www.soundstagedirect.com/angus-and-julia-stone-down-the-way-vinyl-records.shtml
Keith Anderson Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) Well good luck to all the ripoff people, or sucked in to anyone who paid the ridiculous price for the original. Just preordered my copy from Amazon Edited August 26, 2014 by keitha 1
damohpi Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 just hope it's not limited and they can deliver! I had the french re-issue ordered with 3 different french websites and couldn't get a copy, but that was limited to 500 copies
alistairm Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Good stuff that this is being reprinted. It's a bit silly not to be pressing oodles of them when it is plainly so popular on vinyl. I seriously doubt many people actually paid the ridiculous prices for them. I suspect most people bought it from JB Hi Fi and just wore it if they couldn't afford them after they'd run out. For most people there are better things to do with $300 than buy a some hippy pop. Hell, you can get a good bottle of Barolo for that! 1
caminperth Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 So what I'm hearing is that if I can source this locally for $150 I should get it now?!
Guest Hensa Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 So what I'm hearing is that if I can source this locally for $150 I should get it now?! If you order the one I linked above from Amazon, it'll cost you about $35 landed but that won't be the French limited run clear vinyl.
Citroen Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 My copy arrived 2 days ago. NZ$40 for the clear French x/500 version 1
