Bisguittin Posted April 14 Posted April 14 (edited) I'm currently holidaying in Tokyo. I've been to my share of vinyl bars here over recent years and often left with somewhat mixed feelings. Tonight, my wife, my brother and I stumbled upon a genuine contender for best ever. Located in Roppongi, this gem has been operating for only 12 months. Tasty high end equipment, a favourable listening environment and a large large vinyl collection are the bedrock upon which this business is based, but the true icing on the cake lies with the welcoming attitude of the owner and his staff. Without reservation, nothing is too much trouble. Not a hint of stuffed shirt snobbery here. If you're in Tokyo, this venue is an unqualified MUST visit! Edited April 14 by Bisguittin 13 8 1

Bisguittin Posted May 6 Author Posted May 6 (edited) Well folks - another wonderful evening at Musium. The owner Kajiwara is a fine host and an elite maker of cocktails. Be assured that Stereonet members will henceforth be welcomed with open arms. The bar has a collection of vinyl numbering some 100000 discs, 10000 of which are on site at any one time (on some mysterious form of rotation). Rock, blues, jazz, indy and more are represented. A pair of Tannoy Autograph Monitor Gold 15's are the undisputed stars of the show. One word - "presence". Garrard 301 armed with Ortofon goodies to a Marantz Stereo Console in turn feeding a McIntosh 275 valve power amp. (Somewhere hidden away, a phono preamp??) I'll let the pics tell the story. Sound quality? WOW!!!!! Edited May 6 by Bisguittin 8 2

Sound quality? WOW!!!!! I can see some lovely original GEC UK made KT88's in place in the MC275. There are even some original Mullard Blackburn 9-pin minis in use. Wow - style all over. Please share my details so we can start rolling more bottles across the bar. 2
SETfan Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Got to love the Japanese passion for music and vinyl in particular! 1 1
BLAH BLAH Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Where's the grunge...patina...wear and tear...the feel of years long past...

It's only been open for about 2yrs. Sure, the grunge isn't there, nor the look down the nose at foreigners (quite prevalent in several highly touted establishments). This place caters for a younger set of vinyl enthusiasts. The hospitality is great and it's possible to talk and take photos. 3 1
