EssAreEm Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Hi All, I am all very new to the gear side of Hifi and I am looking for a jump off point. I have a set of AAD C100i bookshelf speakers I would like to repurpose as desktop speakers while working from home. 99% of the time it will be music streamed thru spotify or youtube. The sticker on the back notes amp power of 20-100 watts. Will anything in this range work, such as a two-channel with 50 watts each? I was looking towards one of the smaller form-factor amps to keep the desk somewhat clean. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Batty Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Have a look at the SMSL A300 at around the $300 point. https://www.google.com/search?q=smsl+a300+amp&rlz=1C1GCEB_enAU1007AU1007&oq=SMSL+a300&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBwgEEAAYgAQyBwgAEAAYgAQyBwgBEAAYgAQyBwgCEAAYgAQyBwgDEAAYgAQyBwgEEAAYgAQyBwgFEAAYgAQyBwgGEAAYgAQyBwgHEAAYgAQyBwgIEAAYgAQyBwgJEAAYgATSAQg3Nzc0ajBqN6gCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 I bought one for the Kitchen radio, liked it so much I bought another for HT (2 ch only) use. Of course I hade to try it in my main system, holds up really well, drives my LK1 standmounts well. It only has 2 inputs though it does also have a sub out plus with 2 you can use them as mono blocks.

Hi, if i can adjust treble and bass easily either on the device or associated app, that would be a bonus. Otherwise simple is fine. I don't yet know what I'm missing out on to know what I want. Just looking for a basic setup to run the better speakers I already have while working at the desk. It seems a shame to have them and be using some old logitech speakers just because they were easy to plug into the 3.5mm jack. Thanks for the assistance.

I'd recommend you consider a WiiM amp, which you should be able to get for $500. The WiiM app is excellent. 2
