I’m attending on Saturday.

Nice, I hope to be there at opening time, hope can catch up with you

Unfortunately I couldn't travel to Sydney for this year's show as i'm renovating my kitchen and bathroom. But I had a good time last year. The show has a good vibe and attracts some pretty high end gear. Also the Hotel's bistro on the ground floor is the best lunch spot in that area imho for anyone attending.

I’m on my way 🙂

Enjoy the show, and please let us know your favourite rooms on Day 2.

The Serhan Swift speakers with Boulder integrated amp was my favourite room.

March audio was another favourite.

It's great to see Aussie speaker brands doing so well.

I enjoyed pretty much everything but these are my highlights:

The revox stand, it’s a shame they didn’t have any reel to reel player for demo.

The one with the Dohman turntable, the host was great and played my copy of COTC on it 🙂

The triangle active speakers room,

The Bergman turntable room, played my Tracy Chapman LP and the 7” Baby can I hold you

The audio research gear with the Sonus Faber speakers, IMHO the best sounding of all of them.

Also met Wayne ;)

For me the Triangle active speakers were an absolute standout for the money they are priced at. They filled the room with ease and intense volume. It was quite amazing that there were no subs.

The other room that caught me by surprise was the Richter room. The Merlin's sounded really good and the Wizards impressed me to no end. And when you see the price point these speakers and components used are at it's quite remarkable. Anyone on a budget and are price conscious you can do no wrong with this set up. Massive thumbs up. Same for the triangle speakers.

It was nice to meet you also although briefly as shows are bit of an individual experience, I found the show mostly underwhelming due to room negative influences, I agree that the best was the the Audio Research, Sonus Faber, REL, Rega room.

@Hertzgeek Thanks for your report. Did you get a chance to visit the Audio Magic/Krispy Audio room? Last year they brought the flagship Kudos Audio Titan 808's, Copland CTA407 integrated, a Lumin P1 digital front end and VPI Scout tt which got many showgoer's BOS. I'd be curious to know what they're showing this year?

Attended this afternoon and wandered from room to room and whilst I applaud the exhibitors for their ternacity, the turnout on what is normally the busiest day for an audio show was ridiculous. The average’s for bodies in the room sat at 4 and that took into account the B&W room showing the 705 signatures which had 10, the others ranged up and down and a number had no one sitting when I entered. The Len Wallis room did well with the Triangle small white speakers playing Ghost Rider - Make Us Stronger, even if only for dynamic construct. I listened to the Sonus system and the exhibitor offered up an example of the impact of the REL sub on a Mariah Carey track in the high frequencies and played with and without and it definitely sounded better without the top 2 subs in the 6 pack stack and yet, the promotion of benefit was loud and proud. For $600k, words fail.

The show is getting worse and worse each year.

Hence why today’s attendance was so poor.

Lower ground floor even only had one exhibitor (Leica) this year.

Not saying I can organise the show any better, but serious rethinking needs happen soon, otherwise the attendance will be even more ridiculously low next year.

I was in the Krispy audio room, they had the Bergmann airbearing turntable with several Lumin products and the gorgeous Hi-Fi rack I have ever seen.

I went on Saturday and picked up a pair of Sennheiser headphones at a show special price of 40% off retail....

I bought one of those record cleaning kits, the offer was too good to refuse 🙂

I didn't know there was one coming until it started already. ;-(

I think you hit the nail on the head. The Promotors need to do more to advertise this show and get the word out there...not just in What Hifi magazine, but on other audio sites and in the MSM.

That's what the exhibitors pay for.  If numbers aren't coming through the doors then they won't commit to hiring rooms next year.  I'm the same, I didn't even know it was on until I saw this thread.
