SoundAir Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Hi there, I recently bought a Sony Bravia8 and have an Oppo103D BluRay player and Yamaha RX-V777 surround amp, that is supposed to take 4K audio/video.. I was testing the Oppo 4K upscale with my 15 year old BluRay of 'Children of Men' and the audio was slightly out of sync. Basically I have an HDMI cable going from Oppo>Yamaha>Bravia TV - do I need to upgrade the HDMI cables to 8K ones? Are there any settings on the Yamaha to enable 4K audio visual or is it automatic? Or is the BluRay itself an old and crap one, since it's 15 years old?? 1

Unless the disc itself was manufactured with an audio synch fault, I'd guess this is not the cause. You can probably attempt audio synch in the Bravia8 settings, might these instructions work? I'd hazard a guess that the video is delayed relative to audio due to the upscale processing...unsure whether the cable is a bottleneck also... Edited April 2 by Steff
Hi-Fi Whipped Posted April 2 Posted April 2 The Yammy will pass through a 4K upscaled signal automatically, shouldn’t be a need to switch that on. So when you send 1080p from the oppo there’s no sync issue? have you tried the upscaled video direct into the Bravia to check if there is still a sync issue?

Thanks Brother this seemed to work, vocals slightly off when pushed up to 50m/s in the Audio sync on the Oppo.. Would getting 8K cables make it even better? 1
Steff Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I suspect another cable wouldn't make a difference, the cause might not be the speed of transmission but the decoupling of audio and video stream timing caused by the processing unit. Perhaps one of the members better in the know might weigh (sp.?) in... @POV @Snoopy8 @Lil Caesar 1
Quark Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Let your TV do any upscaling - it will almost certainly do a better job and is less likely to cause audio synch issues. 3
Lil Caesar Posted April 3 Posted April 3 (edited) Agree with quark. The tv will perform the upscaling better than the elderly oppo. Edited April 3 by Lil Caesar 1
betty boop Posted April 3 Posted April 3 if your tv is a 4k display .. what ever you feed it ..is going to need to get upscaled anyways ... so best leave it to that ... 1
