Mat-with-one-t Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Hi gang. Many years ago I bought a Muji Studio DAC 2 tune DAC off the forums. Alas, I could never get it to work and can’t remember who I bought it off! I recently and stupidly took it to a “normal” electronics place who charged me $80, only to tell me they “couldnt source a diagram”. I could have told them that for free. anyway, tubes power up but no signal from any output. anyway ideas!? Mat (Melbourne)
calypso Posted March 24 Posted March 24 You can google the original ad. Just type in "Muji studio Dac 2".
aussievintage Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Are you aware of all the clumsy looking hacking that has been done to it?

Where do I start?? that plus the big capacitors strapped around the sides with wires all over the place, yes. Really hard to advise remotely like this. You do need a local expert.
Mat-with-one-t Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 Anyone local Melbourne person who could fix it? I’m in inner north….
muon* Posted April 4 Posted April 4 (edited) Just to clarify the chip with all the stuff on it is a non oversampling reclocker module that replaces the SAA7220, that's how they look. There was an issue with one of the power connectors (molex-ish type) where I had to solder the leads to the pins (you can see this in the pics), I did that and replaced the electrolytic caps, and decoupling caps (orange ones) around the chips. So maybe check that all the rest of those power input connectors are still making proper contact. BTW, that non A TDA1541 S1 is a rare one and valuable. Edited April 4 by muon* 1
