Sansui FR4060 project

Hey folks

I picked up this turntable a few months ago in a sorry state, but the price was right so I couldn’t leave it behind.

It needed a new belt and some cleaning/lubrication but has come up nicely so far.

Sadly the original owner had butchered this one by crudely cutting off the wood plinth surround/facia/frame. I guess to fit inside a cabinet?

I’m looking at recreating the missing frame. I’d like it to be close-enough in dimensions to the original that if I am ever to source a donor dust cover, it will sit nicely.

So with that said, if anyone here has one of these units and is willing to take some measurements I would remain forever grateful.

Here’s what it’s supposed to look like:

Next project will be to poke around at the wired remote port and see how easily I can fashion my own. I don’t like my odds of finding an original.

I would have grabbed it as well.  Nice

Did you ever find the information you were looking for?

I just joined this platform but I've run across your post before. I also have a FR-4060 which came from an online auction last summer and was lucky enough to also get just about everything else that may have come with the Sansui back in the 70's (including the wired remote)

Let me know if you are still looking for info

A wired remote for a turntable?

I've never heard of this before.

How does it work - is it like a camera cable-release that operates the cue lever?

The remote is wired and it operates the automatic functions of the turntable electronically. I can cue, cut, and repeat using only the remote.

I use the remote controller to cue the records which I find helpful due to the FR-4060 floating on springs within the chassis. The platform can be springy! I'll take a video and post the remote controller in action.

Thanks, I've been surprised more turntables haven't had remote controls, especially since wireless became affordable. It makes sense on a manaul turntable to be able to lower the arm once you have seated in the listening chair, and to be able to lift it off when playing has finished. Even automatic turntables don't leave much time to be able to run to your seated position before it starts playing.

Ah.... the 10 yard dash. I know it well...lol

The SRC-6 remote controller has a 3 meter long cable which is long enough to use from virtually any spot inside of a 1970's sized living room!

Attached are a couple photos
