This beautiful sounding Quad ESL-63 electrostatic loudspeaker needs no introduction. It has been a reference point with many audiophiles worldwide. If the realistic reproduction of the human voice and acoustic instruments is your goal, then this sophisticated and refined loudspeaker is for you.

My ESL-63 is the rare Pro Model and was designed to go into recording studios for professional monitoring. Externally it is different from the domestic version by being all-black, with built in metal stands supplied by Quad, balanced speaker connections (including normal banana plugs), some side grab handles and the Quad Pro logo at the back.

This speaker sounds superb and is in original condition and in good working order. The mylar film dust cover under the black sock has some wrinkles and this is normal with Quads of this vintage. You may hear a flutter from the dust cover if you try and rock-n-roll this speaker, which it is not designed to do.

I know a lot of people carry on about their mini-monitors, but lets be honest here, the Quad ESL-63 would blow most of them out of the water with its expansive soundstage, sheer refinement and freedom from box coloration.

The Quad speaker is available for audition to anyone in Perth who is interested. I would prefer local pick-up as these things are awkward to pack, but will send it over East with Pack-n-Send if necessary.

Regards,

Steve.

Ha, you need to hold back Dave ...those Virgos you've got are pretty sweet sounding.

The Quad ESL just needs the right kind of current from an amplifier. The original Quad II valve amp with only 12w/ch of push-pull power will drive them to satisfactory levels, as will a solid state amp like the small NAD 3020. Personally, I prefer them on amplifiers of 50w/ch upwards.
