rjdtwo Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Hi all - need your expertise please Any suggestions for a preamp (poweramp ? ? ) between Project Debut Carbon and Schiit Vali (to AKG K550s ) ? I already have integrated amp (Pioneer A109) and DAC (Beresford Bushmaster) for the digital side of things. Thanks heaps !
gz76 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) I'm guessing you're after a phono pre… what sort of budget do you have to play with? You would only need this if you're going to sit it directly between the Project and Schiit. If you want to set up your headphone amp to use as part of your main Pioneer A109 setup (with turntable and digital), I don't see why you couldn't connect it to one of the [rec] outs on the back of the amp and use the built in phono pre instead. rjdtwo Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 Thanks for that and sorry - budget up to $200 ? I was wondering about the tape 1 out and tape 2 out on the back of the Pioneer - would I be able to use these direct to the Vali ? Thanks again
gz76 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Do you like the way your turntable sounds through the Pioneer amp? If so, then just use the built in phono and save the cash. Yes you should be able to connect the tape outs to your headphone amp.
