My son and I got our musical fix in Tokyo last week while on holiday with the family.

1. Jazz trio at the Club Aries in Ueno. Good renditions of standards.

2. Tower Records in Shibuya - 8 floors of Music. "No Music No Life". 1 floor each for Jazz and Classical. Demo system was Altec VOTT+Macintosh Amps (Jazz floor). Tannoy GRF plus a grand piano on the classical floor. Got a few CDs and LPs.

3. Uncle Tom's Jazz Inn - https://wanderlog.com/place/details/5184005/jazz-inn-uncle-tom; a very very enjoyable time just listening to music that the owner was putting on. He played one side of 4 albums in the time that we were there. Just great listening. Would go back to this in a heartbeat.

4. Last 2 photos were in a forgettable jazz kissa - The Flamingo. Shame that they had all the good gear but we went too late in the night and by that time they were on auto pilot, only playing CDs. Sounded terrible. Have to say the barman and the crowd did not look terribly interested in music.

The owner set up playlists in Spotify and while we were there he played music that I really liked that was new to me on LP.

he would cue up a record and while doing that he would use the playlists to fade in and out of the LP system.
