krazywaffle Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Have the opportunity to purchase an Audile Solo hybrid (i.e., solid state power and input, 2x 5184/12AU7 output tubes) preamp for $1,700 delivered with stock/intended 5184a tubes. Audile, from what I can glean, has a good reputation for producing quality boutique HiFi gear, so this opportunity is tempting for two reasons: (1) compare to current McChanson ultimatE-h all tube preamp ($1,200) and (2) eventually become the preamp compliment to my Audile 300B monoblocks (if only all AUS-made tubes could be had for monoblocks, but can be had for preamp). There was some discussion about Audile gear a while back but not much since, so it seems that it doesn’t come up for sale very often, which could well be a good sign (those who have are keeping). Here are some pics for reference. Thanks heaps for any insights that might influence me towards or against this Melb-made preamp (including hybrid vs all tube topologies). cheers.
