clarkejw Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Hello all, It's been quite a while since I've posted. I live in Maitland, NSW, Australia, and I'm looking for,I guess, a cabinet-maker to build me a set of speaker cabinets. I have the full plans (CAD) for a modern, slim cabinet with the same internal volume, as the original KEF Concerto. In addition, I have a full set of brand-new T27s, (matched) B110s, (matched) and B139s from Falcon Acoustics, plus crossovers, damping wire, grille material, etc. I'd like to find somebody, preferably in the Hunter Valley to build cabinets out of 25mm Baltic Birch ply, and to assemble them, although that's not essential. I've been sitting on this project for quite a while, but, as I have all the stuff, I'd like to turn it into a reality. Any leads would be really appreciated.
andyr Posted January 1 Posted January 1 I would've thought any local shop that builds staircases or kitchen/bathroom/laundry cabinets should be able to do the job. (At least, that's my experience - as 20-odd years ago, the guy that built the staircases in our new house then custom made a dual-box sub cabinet for me. And did a great job!)
Jakeyb77_Redux Posted January 1 Posted January 1 (edited) Send the CAD files to John at Aranmar Acoustics and he will build them and ship them to you. Gotta be the best doing it in Australia. Look at Osborn speakers for his workmanship. https://www.aranmaracoustics.com.au Edited January 1 by Jakeyb77_Redux 2
clarkejw Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 Many thanks! This looks just what I've been looking for! 1
Jakeyb77_Redux Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Here are the birch ply NS-1000 boxes he built for me. Note all edges are beveled so there are no seams in the cabinets at all 6 1 1
clarkejw Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 Here are a coup[le of pics of the progress so far. The sound deadening is in, the box for the B110 mid-range driver and the ports are installed. They have just emerged from the spray booth after their first sealer coat. 25mm Baltic Birch Ply, American oak veneer. 11

clarkejw Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 Cheers, they're coming on very nicely. I had to choose grille colours the other day, went with the black, but was tempted with the charcoal grey.
clarkejw Posted March 6 Author Posted March 6 My new speakers are finished, and have just been picked up the courier from John Woodhead at Aranmar Acoustics. He said they sound wonderful. 7
