Edit, The lifter that works with the technics 1200 models is about $400 and is found at www.mindpopevolution.com

Im going to buy one and then share my thoughts…

Hey guys, I have a 1200mk7 that I love but I’m starting to want (need) an auto return.
I’m in inner Melbourne, anyone had it done?
Would love to know who does it, where and how much?
And anything else you think I might want to know before committing to the mod?

Cheers guys

Rather than mod that good table, why not get something cheaper for the times you want auto-return?  To me, auto-return coincides with me not wanting to pay too much attention, just wanting some background music.

In fact I use a clone of the LP60 table for auto-return functions.

Rather that an auto return?

Have you considered a tone arm lifter instead?

Currently there are 3 good quality units available

Audio Technica AT6006

Presslift - doubles as a record weight and perfect for the SL1200 in my opinion

 Q Up

Wow, did not know these existed, thanks for the heads up.

Do you use one and if so, has it ever failed in any way?
I’m liking the look of this

I have a Q-up.  Works fine if it will fit in the space between the tonearm and the platter.

I am finding it hard to find anyone selling this (with stock).   Any links?

I have used similar but pendulum types in the past with other turntables with great success and no issues

Now that I have a tangential arm - My only option is the presslift

I love everything about my 1200GR2.....almost.....but the lack of a tonearm lift  is annoying. The 1500C has one, why not the more expensive GR2?

If there's one thing I hate, it's the noise of a stylus on a rotating end of an LP side and I would love a lift that is convenient and works well. I like the look of the Presslift and it;s simple and effective method but don't like the idea of that thing stuck on the headshell....plus it's quite expensive.

Project Q Up's and the like don't fit on the Technics and another cheap one called 'The Q Up' doesn't fit either.

I'm just going to have to get my arse off the couch quicker at the end of every side aren't I.....first world problems indeed!😆

Like I said, just buy a cheap auto table for those non-serious listening sessions.

Every listening session is serious!😆

I still have my old modded CEC BD3200 TT which is semi automatic and as much as I'd love to have two tables set up, I just haven't got the room.

There was a fellow making something similar years ago reasonable price selling on eBay these could be the same ones maybe, I tried the Qup but couldn't get it to fit properly.

The Little Fwend is supposed to be good but it's not cheap
