Hey everyone,

Long time ago I bought Tannoy i8 speakers and fall in love with their sound, but there were some problems too...

These speakers does not support any low end, even with sub there were gap between sub and speakers, also X max of these drivers isn't much. New project was born.

There were MANY ideas how to reinforce low end of these speakers, but at the end of a day I add two monacor sp-8/150pro woofers along with tannoy 2062 drivers with 2nd order filter at 250Hz

Each driver have its own enclosure - sealed for tannoys and ported for woofers. Still there is need for subwoofer, but only for the lowest octave.

I am happy with result- my favourite tannoy sound with fast and detailed low and and lots of power, together with sub I enjoy them a lot 🙂

Speakers on the floor get bass support both from the physical contact and reflections from the floor. Have you listened short term to them on the floor. I realise you may have a space issue and thus the speakers are where they are.

Actually I didn't mean that lack of bass under 50Hz is their flaw, I designed them to work together with sub and not like floorstanders because midrange/ tweeter is in middle and too low to place on floor.

In my opinion very low bass and very accurate upper bass is not possible reproduce by single driver, or if it is then it comes with other drawbacks. In my setup subwoofer is cutting off at 50Hz and all above is for those four 8'' woofers.

P.S. Sub is in sealed enclosure of 150 litres with almost flat response from 20 to 50hz without DSP
