Hi all, I'd like to get some other opinions on this matter.

I received a new 10E on Tuesday, but when I took it out of the box it had cosmetic damage to one of the corners. The weird thing is, it was double boxed and the damage only lined up with the inside box so it would seem that it was somehow damaged whilst in the inside box only. RSL are stating that it was caused by the courier, so they would need to file a claim and if approved refund me $75 (if it's approved). Unless the courier took the unit out of the outside box for some reason, dropped it and then put it back in the outside box...am I missing something here?

I'm in Melbourne, Australia so I'm trying to figure out what my consumer rights are, I didn't pay for a new unit to be delivered a damaged one!

Sorry to hear about this.    From what you said RSL customer service sucks:   Time to send it back for a full refund IMO.

They need to follow through on their guarantees.

unfortunately our consumer rights only apply to companies with an ABN and in australia. consumer protection cant enforce your rights with overseas organisations.

I see RSL is based in los angelus california.

you can contact them for your money back though unfortunately they say it excludes speed woofers what ever they are and you need to return in "lie new condition. it does say to send item back the same way you receive it ..so hat might be your way out.. you will be returning it as you received it ie damaged,

if they are un cooperative ...

did you pay using pay pal or via an australian bank. here are two options .. with pay pal you do get protection.. you can contact them saying item is not as described .. ie is damaged and with no damage to packaging it appears it has been sent to you this way.

if you paid via an australian bank you can contact them and believe it or not you can get your money back from them too.. if you can show them the correspondence - not sure how well this will work but worth your luck. it worked for us when someone tried to send us something not quite what we ordered ... so worth an ask atleast.

good luck with this, i can understand frustration, where you probably dont want $75 back instead want subwoofer you ordered instead. if RSL are protective of their name and reputation and stand by their customers , hopefuly they just come to the party as most would. my very fist pair of speakers i ever bought an aussie speaker ...i demoed and then took a pair boxed home, only to find one with a gouge in it.. the shop just swapped out with a new pair, no questions asked.. sometimes these things happen and its how businesses respond that establishes or re enforces their reputation....

Thank you very much for the detailed response!  As you say, hopefully they come to the party on this one.

you will be lucky regards any money back from a company not in Australia, they dont care about any rep because they dont have one here, maybe sell 2 subs a year?

no way to point to the delivery company if box is not damaged. most lilkely  1. it was sent by RSL damaged 2. on inspection into Australia thru customs 3. some stupid delivery guy unpacked it to do what? this is the most unlikely reason. most logical reason is it was packed damaged by RSL.

|hope you didnt pay too much for it.
