Peterbean Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Heavy weight for Pioneer arm I’m fitting a FR7 cart in my PL 70ii. I have the heavy weight but not the little plug that goes at. The end of the arm in having trouble securing the weight. Does anyone know what sort of screw it uses ?

Do you have the screw from the lighter counterweight? You could remove that and take it to a supplier and get another screw with the same thread. Or just swap the screws over if you are not using the lightweight counterweight in conjunction with the heavy one. realistically as long as the thread is the same, any screw can be used as it only has to tighten down the plastic inner strip to the end of the tonearm. Peterbean Posted December 22, 2024 Author Posted December 22, 2024 I have hit another problem. In the manual it says that you can use the fr7 on the arm However carbon fibre is light and it is unlikely to support a heavy cartridge. I tried an fr1 sounds awful - very thin although I have to reset some things . I’m using the S arm, I have the straight arm too, but I doubt if it’s stronger- weaker I expect. there is the ceramic arm wand but I’m starting to run out of folding stuff and it’s around $900. So perhaps a lighter cartridge. Time to get the dynavector k retipped will try again later this week

Yea, a lighter cart like the Dyna, Ortofon, Lyra, Denon etc will certainly match better.
Peterbean Posted December 23, 2024 Author Posted December 23, 2024 Yes, but somebody forgot to tell the guy who wrote the manual

However Ortofon mc25 is too high, the arm has to go right up and has nowhere to go
