Skubiduu Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Hi guys I am wrecking my brain here… I have a 5.1.2 surround setup with my Denon x4500. I want to use my Nad power amp with the pre outs to power a second pair of front speakers. Because I have a second pair of speakers in my living room for music. They are not near the tv…. everything works fine when I connect the power amp to zone 2 pre outs, but when I connect the power amp to “height 2” pre outs on the Denon, and switch to second front speakers - as per directed by the amp it self and the manual - no sound comes out. annoying. I have testet the “height 2” pre out and it works. is there some secret/magic setting I need to do, to make it work? thanks. kris.
Snoopy8 Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Gave up on using zones on AVRs a long time ago, because it is a pain for so, so sound! I suspect that the settings for 2nd zone amp (which is assignable) is different to 2nd zone preout, and/or it is inter dependent (maybe you need to disable amp to use preout?) ? Sorry, no Denon setup experience. You will get better SQ using a separate streamer/DAC like a Wiim....
