captain starlight Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 (edited) hi all, What is happening with the Pioneer brand? Are they still a major player (as they were about 40 odd years ago)? i did a google for their Australian website and got directed to https://www.pioneeraudio.com.au but it seems to be a stale and near empty website with nothing new for a few years. Not even in the news section. I know their early receivers etc were/are highly regarded, but what about their current line-up of equipment - namely their home theatre systems? I’ve read a few online reviews but they are all the same as other reviews - that is, gushing marketing material ( I don’t believe the hype in many reviews now). I’m thinking of forking out for a Pioneer VSX-LX305 9.2 Channel AV receiver but after looking at Pioneer’s website, then I am having second thoughts. Basically if a supposedly major company like Pioneer cannot keep their website current, then what are their products like now? Edited December 5, 2024 by captain starlight
Administrator StereoNET Posted December 5, 2024 Administrator Posted December 5, 2024 A shadow of its former self, sadly. VOXX are owners now, and Pioneer/Onkyo/Integra is starved of innovation and product availability. That's the truth of it. Sure there was a thread on this very topic only recently.
Hi-Fi Whipped Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 From all reports the pioneer VOXX Onkyo integra clones are meant to be great performers but given Pioneer have revoked their license from VOXX, ongoing support for the products is unknown: 1
