I've got a better Sony discman than that model, and in mint condition. Think it might be time to put it up for sale 🤔

I got the same model D515 but the rechargeable battery is dead, also think it might be time to put it up on sale🤑

My model is the D-EJ825. It's only been used on a couple of trips, then put into storage for the last 15+ years. Hence it's mint condition. I didn't realise these old Sony discmans had become so collectable!

Wonder if "Pawn Stars" would make a offer if you walked in with one?

They'd probably offer you what it's worth, less the amount that would make it worthwhile them buying it. I'd say $20-$30

Is it real?

Look at the completed listings to determine is this price achievable

As with anything else. One may think the value of something is x or y. But in the end is what the market is prepared to pay. Speculation plays a huge part in this too.

If I take my $50 toaster and bury it in the desert for 10,000 years and it is in mint condition, it may be worth a lot by then.

But then again, mine may not be the only toaster around, but perhaps it is the one in best condition. This is where my toaster's value would dramatically increase. Of course who knows what the toaster market will be in 10,000....

I would not let a good condition one go for that.

Yeah, but that's your valuation on the thing. And you asked if "Pawn Stars" made an offer. Think about it, how much is the realistic market value of such an item? maybe $100, or $150 to the nostalgia mob. But they have to firstly make sure it works, give it a basic cleanup to make it salesworthy, store it on a shelf taking up real estate that a more valuable item could be occupying, till it sells, and then still make a profit.

And the argument that everyone is streaming these days is hard to ignore...
