Mr_Gadget Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 (edited) Hi all, I just recently purchased a Wiim Ultra and was thinking of adding a sub to fill out the bottom end. The sub would need to be placed between a side wall and the couch with very little room to spare so I thought maybe a down during sub would be a good option? I noticed Krix have this model (Krix Seismix 3D Mk2) which also can be made wireless which appeals to me. Perhaps a SVS SB1000 Pro would also be a good option even though it not down firing? Any thoughts? Edited November 27, 2024 by Mr_Gadget
Jakeyb77_Redux Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 After playing with subs in cars and audio for 30 years I have to say I’ve been very impressed with SVS subs. I have an SB1000 pro here and it’s great for music 3
On.The.Run Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 +1 for the SB1000 Pro which I use in a tight space as well and is currently being discounted for BF/CM sales. SVS have a a couple of wireless adapter options too, including a tri-band system which reviewed well and I believe can also be used with other subs. REL has the T5X and TZero which are small downfiring units at slightly higher price point than the Krix or SVS. The larger T7X has a front firing driver and a downfiring passive radiator. I've heard all three of the RELs with small Sonos Faber bookshelf speakers and they were great, but I've not seen them being promoted on any of the current sales. 1
Mr_Gadget Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 I performed some tests today connecting the wiim directly to my Marantz AV pre/pro using RCA lin out and used fixed volume. I have 2 PSA subs so why not try and save some money and use the subs I already have? Well, problem is that music through the Marantz just seems to be missing something (or takes something away).
Hi-Fi Whipped Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Do the psa subs have multiple input options? The Rel subs I use do so I was able to use one input for 2ch and the other for home theatre, which worked for me at the time. 1

Mr_Gadget Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 I have so many options but all seem to reach a dead end. Eg my pre amp has dual outputs but again sub can't can only take one input from the Marantz

Mr_Gadget Posted December 6, 2024 Author Posted December 6, 2024 I think I'll keep an eye out for an svs SB-3000.

This presents a really good set of considerations for subwoofer choices and goes beyond just brand name recommendations: https://archimago.blogspot.com/2024/11/musings-need-for-full-range-sound.html Edited December 6, 2024 by Steff

Just seems like the 3000 series is more at the level as the rest of my system?

Mr_Gadget Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 Well it's a lot smaller than my PSA subs
