Hi all, I have a good collection of live concert music DVD’s.  I use to own an OPPO 105 that I would play them through into my 2 channel amp.  The OPPO died and was replaced with a Marantz CD player / DAC.  I use a Sony Ultra HD x700 as a blue ray player.  I plugged the Sony Blue Ray into the Marantz last night via coax, however it was not supported, I tried plugging the Sony into my 2 channel amp, and once again not supported.  Last night was the first time I tried playing the music DVD’s since throwing out the OPPO.

is there an easy was to play my music DVD’s via my 2 channel amp, or do I need to play them via the AVR.  Personally, I a, not a fan of using the centre channel for music, even though the DVD may have been mixed that way.

thanks

The Sony has a RCA digital out (should have setting to convert multi channel to 2CH) which can be fed into a DAC to your 2CH amp. SQ will of course depend on the DAC.

Or rip DVD and use a Zidoo media player.

I thought it may have something to do with. Multi channel output on the Sony, however the Marantz CDP /DAC or amp dac cannot accept multi channel.

let me take a look

I changed an audio output setting back to PCM, and that seemed to work.  Now need to see how that affects blue ray movies.  It mentioned that I could not use PCM for Dolby True HD.    There was no seperate setting for Coax Audio out.

There should be a down sample to stereo option or similar that will decode and down sample the surround sound codecs to 2ch PCM regardless of output choice

Looks like Hi-Fi Whipped is right.

I really enjoy concert movies too.  Just watched Cranberries 'Beneath The Skin' again last weekend.

Shame about the Oppo.  I love my CA 751BD (CAs version of the Oppo105).  If it dies, I'll be out looking for another one, or a close equivalent.  Main reason I went the route of a DIY Centre speaker was to match the front mains for a better concert movie experience.
