captain starlight Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 anyone eagerly waiting for Black Friday sales? I am as I want to get myself a new Tele and I notice some places have already started their sales - but that is the big box stores. I am also looking at getting another WiiM product to add to my audio network at home (I already have a pro plus) and maybe a SACD player too if i see any decent specials…..and also see what else is discounted too. so looking at forking out a bit in the next few weeks…. anyone else hanging out for the Black Friday sales?
Volunteer sir sanders zingmore Posted November 5, 2024 Volunteer Posted November 5, 2024 I've removed some posts which were taking this off topic (Apologies as those posts were mainly from me!) I'm not looking for anything in particular from the Sales but I'm kinda hoping that something pops up that I didn't realise I needed 2 5
Administrator StereoNET Posted November 5, 2024 Administrator Posted November 5, 2024 I mostly find them underwhelming for the most part. I'm not talking specifically "hi-fi", but in general. Most of anything has promotions and sales all year round, then they all seem to stop in late October/early November - in readiness for BF. Then just normal promotions once again under the BF banner. But I'll be certainly looking out for something I don't need anyway 7

grammefriday Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 BF sales are often goods that the stores want to clear for new stock. Just another name for a 'sale'
joz Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 So anyone hoping for anything special? Hopefully Eversolo discounts for me, DMP8

Whites Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 I am hoping the Solidsteel racks come on sale. 1

I dropped past their store the day after to try a grab a unit at their show price. No joy! only RRP since!

You do have to pick your timing (i.e. just before or after the new releases) and you do have to use that magic phrase "can you do any better?" while indicating the ticketed price. Depending on your timing, that can sometimes be 50%. I even go to get our laser printer carts there as they do the same thing! N.B. not much good for audio, but pretty good for video if they stock what you require. Edited November 11, 2024 by Cloth Ears 3 1
Essence Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 I am looking for a deal on technics turntables but the few stores that offer the brand rarely seem to include it in any of the sales. Eyeing the new 1300g and maybe a 1200g if the discounts cuts the price enough... 1

Gone are the days when these sales actually had a large discount to stimulate sales. Pre COVID I picked up my 65in Samsung TV from 3.4k down to 1.8k. Now that was a saving and worth the while. I have never seen it discounted like that since. Even Dyson don't discount heavy on black Friday anymore. It's just the same as their usual sales. America is where they actually discount heavy to prices that are nearly giveaways. 1

Was at HN on last weekend and they had this 'get 10% back in gift cards' offer and he wouldn't budge on giving me a better discount. Bought a few things, furniture, fridge, tv, washing machine just under $3k for the in-laws as they're moving out of their primary residence into a retirement village. They weren't too fussed about the savings, rather the case of having the new joint furnished as best as we could before their move in this weekend.
audiofeline Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 There wasn't anything of interest in the Black Friday Record Store Day releases list that I looked at. Poor form that they didn't give you the show pricing the day after, esp. as you had been at the show. I hope they lost the sale. 1 1

Honestly, I think going a little higher to a regional supervisor may have resulted in a better outcome. Who am I to talk though? I probably would have walked out with my money still in my pocket muttering, grumbling and worked up in a huff. I bought a pair of speakers 10 years ago at a show. A discount was offered for purchase during the show. I went back a week later and the discount was honoured. I've remained a loyal customer since. 7
joz Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 Anywhoo, same spesh is being offered for Black Friday. But jeez it wouldn’t have left me pissed off at the time. 1

RCADees Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 I reckon there are some pretty good deals on Isotek cables. 20% off on Marantz and Denon amps etc too. And Ortofon cartridges too. I ordered an Isotek optimum for like 40% less. I only saw this sort of lovely discounting about a year ago. 1

betty boop Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 my scoop is a projector... not that it was advertised but it was worth an ask on the guise of black friday... "surely there is a good deal on these" and yep deals are out there, some just need unearthing 2
Bass13 Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 I would love to get a pair of these "ACCUSTIC ARTS® MONO VI", but alias not only would it need to be a Black Friday sale, dare say it would also need to go into a Black year sale before I could afford a pair. 1 2
