Its roughly 40 years old.

The arm is past its used by date, bearings would be in poor shape by now.

The Linn main bearing would be worn, unless it has been replaced.

Therefore I wouldn't pay any more than $500 tops.

A new bearing and modest arm is probably going to be $1500 at least.

I wouldn't buy it unless you are happy to spend money servicing it and bringing the bearings and arm to a reasonable level.

OK, but you could give it to me, I'd be happy to accept it.  Not past my "used by date" 🙂

The new owner saids its a Grace707.   Apparently it needs a new Belt,  obvious from a deceased estate.   BTW all for $400 from an OP shop on Chapel St Prahran.

According to google. A few sites stares that the original linn belt is 165cm in diameter and 4mm wide.  Later its modified to a 165cm and 5mm.   A google search comes up with so many different variations in diameter.   can someone enlightened me without pay a fortune,  what would the sweet spot in the length of this belt be.   Do we order a shorter/longer length?   Either way if its not exact it will slow down speed.

I don't know the correct size.

I use Thakkar belts for Linn Sondek turntables.

Very nice belts, no speed issues.

OK, belt has arrived.  Right channel dead, only the left channel is going.  It looks like the RCA has had some beating.  Chunks of insulation taken out of the left channel wire but the right is dead.  Notice that it’s a small 5 pin din to RCA.  Anyone know the model to this 5pin din male plug?  I think I found a equivalent on eBay but not sure if this is the correct adapter,  have sent a message to the seller to see if they know.  See pics,  from a iPhone SE

Test it with a multimeter?

@SonicArt can make one for you.

They made one for me for a Grace 707.

They are his vinyl link cables.

Ask if they make a 90 degree connector, as the cable is fairly thick, and dressing it properly would be a lot easier.

the old Grace cables are pretty basic,  and the wiring connections are different to your standard female ended DIN cable.  I have the plugs and machine up my own alloy plug bodies. I can make a wide base body for 90 deg exit,  just costs a bit more due to machining complexity.

The male DIN i have in stock is pure copper pins straight gold plated,  one of the best quality available at sensible pricing.

Found the right RCA plug went open.  It’s obvious the connection  broke in the active.   So chopped the RCA off and got continuity with the cartridge coil.   Hopefully I’d be able to get RCA tomorrow to get this going IMG_2231.thumb.jpeg.d6dca519e29d0dcc07c1c68fa6a1fad4.jpeg

Just replaced both RCA.  Checked the speed with a Telarc test disc that has a 50/60hz scale on the end.  Since the Telarc was produced in the 80s,  the scale was a constant blur.   Then in a second it hit me with a Homer Simpson “doh” moment;  all the lighting  in the house is being replaced with LEDs.  Luckily I has an incandescent glob still hanging around and this time you see that scale staying stationary.   Checking setting up the cart at 2 points with a jig and that checks out.   Playing beautiful music now.  Many thanks to posters here who have reached out to render assistance.   Thank you
