Addicted to music Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 (edited) If you ever get any tradies in to do any work, that includes electrical or plumbing and etc. Always check the operation before they leave to ensure they have done the right thing. Even do some research into what the job requires gets you along way! Why? Because of incorrect installations like this. This is not the 1st time I’ve seen this, qualified licensed electricians or any tradie get away with a lot and don’t give a rats if you don’t call them back. I’ve seen the wrong 3 pin plug put on, I’ve seen circuit breakers installed 180 or upside down compared to the rest of the bank of breakers that literally against the regs and codes, but this tops the lot, how do you fcuk up the physical orientation of a switch, not one but 2? This device requires 2 20A single phase to run. So told the client to get them back to fix it! In this day and age where the VBA is asleep at the wheel, lots of dodgies and overseas workers out there that don’t know the codes or requirements, so do the research, don’t say I didn’t warn you. audiofeline Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 You can't trust they do simple jobs well. Always check. I had an electrician out to my home some time ago to do a few jobs. We have a two light switches in a vertical orientation. For logical orientation, I wanted the bottom and top switches swapped. I thought it would be an easy pop out the switches and relocate them in the plastic housing and screw back into the wall. The electrician had the apprentice do the job. He spend a few hours on the job, for some reason doing a lot of wiring work, and eventually finished and checked that each switch turned the lights on and off. Just before the electrician left, I checked the switches and noticed that the apprentice had put them in the same configuration as they were before he started. The electrician didn't believe me when I told him it was the same, he said the apprentice did the job. However, he was shaking his head when he checked and realised that the apprentice stuffed up. Fortunately he re-did the job so it was as I asked when he left. I hope I wasn't charged for the time the apprentice wasted. 1
