catman Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 (edited) G'day all, I actually tried this with two of my own parts box NE5532's, and they came up as open circuit in this test, so are they 'fakes"? Regards, Felix. Edited October 21, 2024 by catman Title.
Addicted to music Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 (edited) most likely. He's also admitted that he buys all his stuff from Aliexpress., dead giveaway, red flag one, the 2nd red flag is the paint to indicate pin 1. Never seen a 8 legged device with paint make to indicate pin 1 All mine have a manufactured circular indent in the case. Edited October 21, 2024 by Addicted to music
Batty Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 (edited) He put the paint on himself. Edited October 21, 2024 by Batty
bob_m_54 Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 @Batty beat me to it.. the fake chip does have the indent too.
catman Posted October 29, 2024 Author Posted October 29, 2024 (edited) G'day all, just an update. In recent days I have purchased four more NE5532 op amps from a reliable source and these test ok with the diode junctions between pins two and three, visible in my digital multimeter, so they are in all probability genuine. The others in my parts boxes although apparently workable, are counterfeit as no diode junctions in this multimeter test can be detected. Regards, Felix. Edited October 29, 2024 by catman Addition. 1
