Noodlepringle Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Hi folks, Hopefully I'm in the right place. I have a Kenwood KR5400 that had a shuffling sound from the left channel. I tracked it down to being in the amplifier section, and recapped it while I was there as it seemed to not be there until warming up for a bit. Turns out once I desoldered the output transistors and tested them I found that they both had low gain for the left channel (15 and 20, should be minimum 40). I know I can try my luck rolling the dice ordering a pair from ebay from China and probably get the wrong thing, or failed old ones, but I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me by possibly having them on hand: - 2SD188 (NPN) - 2SA627 (PNP) I would probably assume with the age of it, and that one channel has gone that I may as well do both sides, but beggars can't be choosers and I'll take what I can get for now. I'm based in Melbourne - it would be amazing if I could find someone local so I can get this back up and running for the weekend - it's a well well loved hifi for us. Jesse
