chrapladm Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Hello everyone. I built a single 15" D2 HST sealed subwoofer. I have barely used it, went through a divorce and now it just sits in a closet. I pretty sure the packaging that it came in is gone. I am trying to think of the best way to sell the sub to someone who will use it. I could just sell it as is in my simple sealed MDF cabinet. BUT it weighs a LOT. And I am not carpenter. But if I just sell the driver or the whole cabinet and driver I will have to build a box to protect the driver. What is everyone's thoughts on the best way to sell this great but very heavy driver? Thanks
Sub Sonic Posted October 18 Posted October 18 I’d be inclined to just offer the driver for sale, with a free box if wanted. If you did have to ship it, I’d be inclined to cut a round plywood circle to bolt to the front of the driver, but add some spacer rings to make sure it clears the suspension. You could then pack it in a cardboard box, magnet down, and pack the living daylights out of it around the magnet and back of the frame, if that makes sense. How much does the suspension stick out from the front of the frame? Would you happen to have a link to the driver? SS
chrapladm Posted October 18 Author Posted October 18 https://www.facebook.com/stereointegrity/posts/a-little-farther-back-view-of-the-hst-15-mkiii-built-today-with-the-large-carbon/2997187353651568/ That is not my driver but still very similar if not the same surround. I understand what your saying. I thought about making a plywood baffle board as you suggested. I will have to measure the surround height. Maybe 35mm. Cant remember off the top of my head. Will measure tomorrow. If I dont sell my midbass drivers I may just have to repurpose those drivers and this subwoofer. Never had much luck selling items in Adelaide or on stereonet. Although many years ago I did sell my pair of 21FTW's.

chrapladm Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 (edited) Ive hardly ever pushed the driver. So I would think it will behave similar to new. I was hoping if I sold the driver that I would just make a good deal for someone. $500 for the driver was what I was thinking. I believe if I had to buy another 15 it would now cost about 1500aud. I know how hard it is to get drivers and speakers with out paying absurd shipping prices. So when I do sell parts or drivers or subwoofers I try and make a deal for another Australian. Just like the four midbass drivers I am selling in the classifieds. The sub has been sitting in my closet for a while now because I had to downsize everything for a while.
