aussievintage Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 (edited) I have had a cheap digital tracking force gauge for a long time, but I finally broke it trying to get the button battery out. So I bought a new one and it is better. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09B91L4MD - it is smaller (thinner) - it has 20g full scale (the old one was 5g) - it runs on a standard AAA battery - not a button battery - it comes with an accessory for measuring liquids/powders Measuring an AT3600 for 2.5 grams tracking force... cafe latte Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 I have not had much luck with cheap digital scales. The last two died just sitting in a draw, not working at thr most inconvenient time. I bought a Shure balance beam scale years ago, no batteries to work about, it lives under one of my turntables always ready when it is needed. Chris

My last one I had for many years, and it was my own stupidity that broke it (digging out a wrong sized button battery with a screwdriver ). We'll see how the new one goes. btw. I have an old balance beam type on hand for emergencies. 1
audiofeline Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Digital scales I've bought have lasted OK. I would suspect that this scale has the same guts as previous models, but in a newly designed enclosure. This one looks as good as previous designs, and it's cheaper on AliExpress. Nice to get it with the case and with a calibration weight (coins can be used as a calibration weight as they are made to a standard, google can supply their weights for you). 1

Not sure if they all had a calibrate function, but this one certainly does. Set it to calibrate mode, whack the 20g weight on, and it calibrates itself. 2
