Hi guys, first post in a long while. Hope you're all good.

In the next 12 months I will undertake a major change to my lifestyle, this time for the better (last time was not so good).

As a result, I'm on the lookout for a couple of pieces of gear and I need a little bit of help.

I recently acquired a clean NAD 1000 preamp and I'm wanting to pair it with a compatible NAD power amp. Before anyone says it: yeah, I know I can use a Rotel or a Marantz or an AMC, etc.. Those are also under consideration but that's for another post.

What I'm hoping for is either a NAD 214, 216 or 2200. I won't need more than 100 watts but I will need more than 40. I realise they are all old, especially the 2200. I'm not interested in the current 268 and 298 NAD amps. The plan is to recap everything anyway so as long as the boards and other parts are good, I don't mind.

The trouble is that I have seen very, very few NAD power amps on the second hand market in Australia. There are tons of them in the US and I wanted to know how difficult it would be to potentially change one from 110v 60 cycles to 240v 50 cycles.

Also, if anyone knows of any reliable eBay sources for cap kits, that too would be great.

And since I'm going to need to circuit diagrams for the recap anyway, I was wondering if there was anyone who might have some helpful advice.

Thanks in advance.

Best to avoid capacitor kits and order good ones of your own choosing from a trusted source. Also swap out like for like of the values in there as sometimes there are revisions after the schematic was done, so there could be differences between the schematic and the actual amp.

Service manuals are available from here:

Wow. Thanks. Much appreciated.

Good to know there are people still supporting these old work horses.

Yes: I'd prefer to change caps that way but I was under the impression that there were a few trusted suppliers out there.

Americans recommend Mouser but I couldn't navigate their site. I know there is another one locally.

*EDIT

I ran into this little problem. See attachment.

+1

said cap kits will generally not include the main filters, also some questions about cap selection. There are not that many caps in the 2200/2600 so suggest make up your own BoM and order from mouser or digikey, free deliver for orders over AUD60, 3 day delivery to Mel.

Work out what parts you need then place order, you don't need to create an account, pay with paypal or... easy-peasy

For main filter caps the only workable choice is to run the rated voltage closer to the actual rail voltage, eg, think rails are +/-90Vdc, OEM caps are 120Vdc(???) only available caps are 100Vdc(???) or something like that. Reread this when you get to that stage, will make more sense.

Ah yes, Digikey. That's another I was trying to think of. Thanks.

Filter caps are another matter. I know that are expensive but I guess it will depend on their condition.
