I bought a set of Gaia IIIs for my Monitor Audio Silver 8s. The MAs have a plinth that is screwed to the bottom of the cabinet and then spikes from that to the floor.

Should I attach the Gaias directly to the cabinet or still use the plinths?

Cheers

Most people simply remove the spikes and replace with the Gaia. Just need to make sure you have the correct thread.

Footers like Gaiia IIIs and Stack Audio AUVAs take the place of spikes, so should be attached to the plinths.  You might find that the plinths are attached to the speakers some other way, which would make the Gaias unuseable.

Also, I'm not familiar with your speakers, but removing the plinths might make the speakers a little unstable.

The plinths screw into the cabinets with the same threads as the spikes on the plinths.  I currently have the cabinets sitting on some cheap isolation pads on IKEA breadboards as a bit of an experiment. They are not too unstable.

They should come with 3 sets of bolts all with different thread types.

I'd be surprised if one of them didn't fit.

I've used mine on a few different speakers and always had a bolt to fit.

Yes, but I wouldn't remove them if you don't have to.  They are obviously integral to the performance of the speakers.

One thing I found about the Gaias was that they were a bit wobbly on carpeted floor, even with the spiked cups fitted underneath them.
