HiFi News (UK) Magazine Subscription

Recommended Posts

Took out a subscription to the above 12 months ago. Always enjoyed reading the various articles, reviews etc. However, been a few issues with delivery. Didn't receive April edition, or the last 3-month editions (Jul, Aug Sep). Have liaised with them several times, to which communication has been good, but out of their control once shipped.

Prefer physical copies, instead of digital, as you can always have a read again etc. Thay have stated there has been the odd delay with printing etc and shipping but starting to consider cancelling it.

Anyone else had similar issues? Seems that maybe someone at a mail centre has an interest in Hifi and just decides "yeah, i'll keep this".  Quite frustrating.

Yeah similar.

I took out subscriptions to News and Choice after Covid as the availability at newsagents was terrible.

Over the last few months a few issues seem to have gone missing. Trouble is you don't know if they're still coming or not. Just have to wait.

I received the July issue of Choice the other day, first issue of either that I've received for a couple of months, and it had a Cyprus postal mark on it. Think it was Cyprus, going from memory now. So I think they take a world tour before ending up in Oz.

Happened a lot to me 4-5 years ago. So much so that I just cancelled the hard copy and switched to the digital version. It also used to happen a fair bit with my Record Collector magazine when the cover was plastic i.e. see through. They switched to a full paper cover about 12 months ago and I have not lost a copy since!

Well, there you go. I'm not the only one. Emails i've received back stating i should receive editions in "29" days and "50" odd days etc. When you add up them up, there's approximately $60.00 worth of mags gone missing in my scenario.

See through plastic doesn't help, granted they have a plain paper sleeve on the cover, but the back of mag has some form of advertisement for a hifi brand, then you only have to look at spine of mag to see what it is.

This has happened to me. They were good enough to send me a replacement copy of any that didn’t show up, always in a plain brown envelope. These always arrived!

Well, go to collect mail at general store, and sure enough, brown envelope with a Hifi Choice August edition, not Hifi News, which is my subscription, but anyway, I’ll give them a gold star 🌟 for effort!!

The digital version is the way to go. I use an iPad to read them. The app archives all copies subscribed to so you always have access to back issues. Been using this method now for about 5 years without any problems. Cheaper too!

And just received Oct Choice.

Still haven't got Aug Choice!

Delivery is all over the place at the moment.

I only got the May issue from our local newsagent a few weeks ago. To read the October edition in September would seriously undermine my understanding of how things work!
