Digital Man Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 Hi All, Sorry about this, but I tried googling for this information to no avail, hopefully someone here can help, I have the chance to buy a Jimi Hendrix poster, it is stamped 1968 and is made by Heaton hand printed, can anyone please tell me if this poster is legitimate ? And even possibly tell me the history of Heaton hand prints from this era ?Thanks
Beyond Salvation Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Tough one. It doesn't look pixelated which is one clue, however it's difficult as you've found out. Can you take it to an art house that may be able to check the paper & type of printing? https://gocollect.com/blog/real-or-fake-authenticating-concert-posters
Beyond Salvation Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Well, buying it unseen is always a risk as anyone will tell you. Fakes are aplenty. Perhaps ask for close up detailed photos of the image & take it to a vintage poster dealer for an opinion. I assume it will be big $$ so do your best to avoid being ripped off. Good luck!
Bronal Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 I don't think this is a concert poster, as there are no concert details. It looks like an 'art' poster to me. I did a quite extensive search for Jimi Hendrix posters and this one didn't come up. Do you have any idea as to its provenance - ie: USA, UK or somewhere else? What is the quality of the paper it's printed on? Does it show signs of ageing consistent with the late 1960s to early 1970s?
LogicprObe Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Back in those days, a lot of us made our own. Sometimes you wouldn't get many prints out of a silk screen.
Digital Man Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 All the info is in the photo, beyond that, I can’t find anything else out about it, it has aging around the edges and is hand printed
