Wallie Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 Hi All Im new here, and would very much appreciate anyone that can give me advice on getting a new screen I have just moved into a new unit, which has white walls and ceiling. The wall is so bright white, that I am using that as my screen at present, and its not bad. I am looking at Ebay for a Panoram Pro screen 1:2 gain at @$325.OO including free postage or Encore 1:1 gain from Selbys at $1349.00 or $899.00. Also looking at Visualax 155 cinemascope screen at $1,150.00 Any ideas of bad reports etc. Thanks in advance. Wallie
dejay Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 (edited) Hi @Wallie You must have a big wall. A 150" screen is huge. At 16:9 ratio about 2m high by almost 3.5m wide with a border. I'd be a bit nervous getting something off ebay. Fixed screens are normally pre-assembled and don't bend. Better off getting a specialist to supply & install. When selecting the screen size, factor in: - the quality of your projector: may impact the quality of the image being projected at that size. - your seating position: If you're too close it may be a bit much to take in. - speaker positioning: Taking up 2m of heigh probably won't leave much room for your center speaker to be positioned correctly. Wallie Posted September 10, 2024 Author Posted September 10, 2024 Hi Dan Thank you for your comments. I took a gamble on the better screen of ebay, which arrived yesterday. Have theatre people coming to assemble and mount on the wall. But the way it was packed was excellent and the quality looks pretty good. Will let you know how I go. Cheers Wallie 2
