kiwilistener Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 (edited) Had this video pop up on my YouTube feed. Being a massive Pink Floyd & David Gilmour fan, I gave it a watch. Very interesting insight into the making of an album. What I found even more interesting was his comment towards the end stating it was the best album he made since Dark Side of the Moon. Certainly, worth the watch with a morning cup of coffee. Edited August 30, 2024 by kiwilistener 4 1
cazzesman Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/david-gilmour-luck-and-strange-album-review/ Out today. Regards Cazzesman 1
cazzesman Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Mmmmmmmmmm. 3 listens. 2 on headphones, 1 on stereo system. Not enough light and shade for me. No real dynamics. There will be plenty of PF and Gilmour solo albums ahead of this one on my play list I suspect. Regards Cazzesman
awayward Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 I’ve had just the one listen, and thought that it was just ok but with some pretty good moments, perhaps will get better with a few listens, but maybe not, time will tell! 1
Terry Beard Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 (edited) All of Gilmour's solo stuff is just too bland. Like McCartney with Lennon, his sweetness was always better when entwined with Roger Water's aggression. Edited September 19, 2024 by Terry Beard 2

Yes I find it quite uninteresting myself, though I also consider Waters without Gilmour the same. 2 hours ago, Terry Beard said: Like McCartney with Lennon I prefer a lot of Wings (McCartney) music to the Beatles and consider Lennon's songwriting post Beatles was quite average in comparison.

In a lot of these partnerships, while both can be great songwriters, one is more the poet and one more the musician. Forster & McLennan (Go-Betweens) is another obvious example.

Like his first two much better and I find the recording compressed and lifeless. His daughter has a future though.
