Peak HiFi are out of stock of their Extended Length SMD 401 spindles. Does anyone have any other options? I need a slightly longer than standard spindle on my 401 so that my Orsonic Record clamp can grab it. I'm using a Jeweltone platter mat which is quite thick with a Project Record Puck atm.  My current spindle (standard) is a tad short...  BTW I'm very happy with the mat, seems to deaden the resonant/ringy standard Garrard platter nicely on knuckle test. Sounds Ok too...

Kind regards, Michael

Switch the bearing to a SPH bearing ( the spindle is longer), I think the whole bearing is 200 quid

I just installed mine (long SPH Bearing) the other day. Huge improvement over the standard Lenco bearing and the workmanship is great.

Will look into that, ta!

It’s an easy fit and a big improvement over the standard 401 bearing (plus it has a longer spindle). I just keep my factory bearing wrapped up in a box now.

Can you only access the SPH long bearing via Facebook? I’m not on Facebook…

Lenco heaven is another way. Sien has his email there.
