MusicOne Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 (edited) I'm using a Dodo supplied modem router that's about 9 years old. Surprisingly, it does 5G wi fi, but I'm having trouble with my home phone connection....dropouts, etc. Dodo has reset my present modem to optimise its performance, but I'm still having trouble with the home phone connection. Dodo suggests one of their modems, but I thought I might be able to do better. There are so many 5G modem/routers out there....it's all very confusing. Any suggestions as to a good 5G modem that will be compatible with Dodo's network? Thanks. Edited August 27, 2024 by MusicOne
David A Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 (edited) If you're hard-wiring your router, i've found Netgear modem/routers to be reliable. Though I don't have a Voip phone, so I can't comment on how they perform with voip. If you plan to leave your wifi on 24/7, you might want to consider a low EMF Eco router like the example I linked into below which will greatly reduce the EMF in your home. When in use, they reduce the beacon signal which pulses 10 times a second by 90%. When no wifi devices are connected, it goes into eco mode and emits no wifi signal. Then when you switch a wifi-enabled device on again, the router switches wifi on again seamlessly - https://www.jrseco.com/pcat/low-radiation-wifi-routers-jrs-eco-wifi/ There are possibly other low-radiation wifi routers on the market, but I haven't researched that extensively. The JRS Eco range looks to be good, though I'd suggest confirming if they're compatible with the NBN as a first step. Hope that helps! Edited August 27, 2024 by David A 1

I don't use wi fi very often.....I cable everything.....only use wi fi for updating my mobile phone. My present modem has an on/off switch for wi fi, but I don't really use it. I switch my modem off when I go to bed and switch it on again the next morning. The suggestions you have made are very interesting and I will investigate. Many thanks........John. 1
Tone Malone Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 The Dodo website seems pretty open about what modems you can choose. In past years I found ISPs to be much more specific in the modems you could use, but maybe they've relaxed that approach. I've personally found the tp-link ones (including the vr1600v2) to work quite well. If you find a modem you want that is not supplied by Dodo, I'd suggest then calling Dodo to see if that model has caused any issues from their perspective. 1
