HamSolo Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 This weekend my wife & I drove an hour to Officer to buy a Subsonic XS1 subwoofer off FBM as my birthday gift. Literally 200m from the seller's address we received a message that she made a terrible mistake and forgot that she sold the sub I still knocked on the door and had some choice words with the lady, but I guess we all slip up occasionally. 1 2
Steff Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Not exactly a nice drive either. Oh well, happy birthday belated - another sub will pop up! 1
muon* Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Bought a tube pre from Aliexpress, complete rubbish, now in bits waiting for a rebuild that may never happen, $400+ wasted. 1

It's not a nice drive no, but at least we went via a party to celebrate a team mate of ours winning double golds in the world's most prestigious jiu jitsu competition. Life is fool with curve balls Also, I probably didn't need another sub and got a set of Emotiva ERD-1's instead. Win-win! 3

Perhaps partially worth the gamble though, and considered during the purchase? That said, the sub seller offered me $20 for fuel (declined). And I don't really mind spending time with my wife. It was just the weirdness of it all that hurt a bit. Normally only FBM sellers get mucked around.
pete_mac Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 “Terrible mistake”… I wonder if the seller received a better offfer? Wouldn’t be the first time that something suddenly becomes unavailable. 2
Cloth Ears Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Still waiting for that pair of Accuton C88-6 midbasses. Only about 21 years...mail is very slow! 3

Yup, we got taken by the Sea Monkey one back in the 70's. Bloody Brine shrimp. I had a lot better success with breeding hatching them years later, as food for my aquarium fish. Been near 40 years so details are vague, should be easy enough to find all you need these days with the internet. Edit: heaps of sites with how to. https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=Breeding+brine+shrimp&atb=v386-1&ia=web IF I recall correctly I used to buy adult brine shrimp for my adult fish, but hatched brine shrimp for fry, so I didn't grow any myself. wartman Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 Ordered a new laser assembly for a CD player from AliExpress. Arrived in an unprotected plastic bag. Looked like it had been run over. Straight into the bin. 1

I've found AliExpress to be reasonably reliable when making claims, sometimes they will try to give a part-refund, but for something like this it should be quite clear. Dicks like this know how to play the ebay game, stringing out the claim, until you can't get your money back, and negative feedback is deleted by ebay!. I rarely use ebay anymore, and certainly buy nothing directly from China. 1

It was only small money thankfully, I couldn't be bothered chasing it up. Just another lesson for me. 1
