Hi All, just wondering if there is a preferred method to keeping your headphone earpads in good condition and hygienic. Thinking more about leather or faux leather but in essence any cleaning habits or processes people may use would be great to learn.

Cheers.

As a long term headphone user (and reviewer), I've rarely found the need to do too much to clean headphone pads and cups, but you're best off just blowing away any dust debris from inside the pads / cups. Don't use a vacuum cleaner and be wary of using compressed air though as some drivers can be quite fragile.

For the pads themselves, I would recommend just wiping with a soft, dry cloth. If you feel they need more than that, a very lightly damp cloth with maybe a hint of hand soap (not strong dish soaps or spray cleaners) should be more than enough - wipe them dry after cleaning too. You don't want the residues of strong detergents stuck to your headphone pads, potentially degrading them and also potentially irritating your skin.

Thanks Lachlan, appreciate your response.

The reason I ask is that my Radiance after use, and if left overnight for example, end up with like a white residue or dusty type film on them. It just wipes off, but I've not idea why only they do it in the first place and wondered if there was a specific cleaning method or product to use to try and eliminate it happening and form a base line for me to go by.

I'll try your suggestions of the light damp cloth (I wont use any soap on first try) and see how that goes. 👍

or use baby wipes on yourself before using your headphones! 😁 and pre-empt the grime build up...
