Hi,

Im after some help/guidance from a vintage HiFi expert please 🙂 - Being completely honest, I have ended up with what I believe is a tonearm (SME 3009) - im unsure if it works because - long story short - I purchased a load of telescope gear from someone who was clearing out their late step-dads house. He insisted I take this tonearm (neither of us had no idea what it was) and he said if its not for the telescope "it may be worth some money, you never know - so just take it as i need this garage clear"

Ive had a look online and im just not sure if ive listed it correctly, as im not sure if its a series 1, 2 or anything else. Would someone please be able to help me identify what version it is? It dosent have any of the counterweights with it, so I cant tell unfortunately.

Since its a forum I dont think im allowed to post the link to the auction so ill upload the photos separately.

Many Thanks in advance,

Jayden

Because it is fitted with the side thrust rod attachment it is the SME 3009 Series 2 version.

Thanks so much for this, it’s much appreciated:-) do you know if it’s the “improved” or the “non improved” version just by looking?

many thanks,

Jay

Despite the missing parts, given the longer counterweight arm extension it is the non-improved version.

Thanks both!  this is really helpful to me. I’ll revise my auction listing now to make it more accurate.

thanks,
