captain starlight
Hi all, i’m rebuilding my cd collection as I stupidly got rid of them a few years back. No judgements please. but in my previous collection, I used to use protective sleeves for the cd cases to stop the plastic from getting scratched. So I look on the net now and there are many many different types available. my question, does anyone have a favourite plastic sleeve to protect cd cases with? I’m just thninking what May appear to be good online may not be very good. The problem is, most of the ones I am seeing are in lots of 50-100 or so. Don’t want to buy 50 or thereabouts to find they are useless. any recommendations?
audiofeline
I don't bother with plastic sleeves for jewel cases. But I do like the cardboard digi-pak's to be in a plastic sleeve. Back in the CD heyday, it was easy to buy nice flexible thick plastic sleeves (you could fit a jewel case in them). I would love to buy more, as my small supply ran out many years ago. But when I look online I can find plastic sleeves for the CD disk (that won't fit over a case), thin plastic sleeves often with an adhesive tab which is wonderful to minimise retail theft but not much good for home use, and other sleeves which I am unsure of their utility. I've seen them at one local record store, but they are retailing for ~$1.50 each which I think is somewhat excessive. Well, that's my favourite CD sleeve, and I have no idea where to get it from (and at a reasonable cost).
David A
I used to buy cd sleeves from JB Hifi and stores like that when I bought cd's back in the day when JB still had rows of cd's for sale. I recall they were sold individually, so I just grabbed as many as I needed based on my current/recent cd purchases. They were the sleeves that had a lip you tuck in on the other side. Though I also bought some earlier examples which didn't have that lip. They've all held up pretty well and get the job done. But today with brick and mortar cd sales shrinking to a fraction of what they were at their peak, i'm not shore where i'd start today...probably indie and second hand record stores, or maybe local audiophile stores like Audiophile Reference Recordings in Melbourne who have a bricks and mortar store and website. audiofeline
I've looked online for a substantial product, but it's hard to tell from the descriptions.
mrbuzzardstubble
If you go into ebay and search for the seller deckheadsbryan he has just recently re-stocked with plastic covers. They'll easily fit over a jewel case and easily accommodate a multi panel /double digipak. He's discounted the price since re-listing. I just bought 100 for $42 which includes postage. Also available in packs of 25 and 200. Cheers.
