rantan Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 Oh nooooo!! John was one of my rock gods back in the day and he had an enormous influence on rock music for so long it seems that he was ageless. I have several of his latest albums and age certainly did not diminish his ability. He was like a head coach of rock and when he spoke they all took note. and he inspired so many careers of modern day rock legends. He could probably be classed as the Godfather of blues /rock and fusion ( as we see above in the "Turning Point" album ). This is really, horribly sad for me and I type with a very heavy heart and much emotion. We should all be so thankful for John's life. Music from the last 50 years would never have been the same without his musical genius. May the spirit calm you to rest in peace and love forever and The -Great-Gig-In-The-sky now has not only a member, but also a leader. Vale john and thank you for not going gentle into that good night. Time was your only master. Remembered forever by music lovers. Rest in Peace brother. 1
ZEN MISTER Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 Without John, no intro to Green. Clapton, McVie, Taylor, etc etc. Such a cornerstone of all that Britain nurtured in those fertile years. Personal favourites, The Turning Point, and his most personal album, little heard these days, BARE WIRES. RESPECT. BILLY 5
