Indeed, the responsibility rests with the product and delivery teams tasked with rolling out scheduled updates, fixes, and enhancements. An issue of this scale will undoubtedly prompt the CrowdStrike and Microsoft QA teams to reassess their automated and manual (if applicable) progression and regression suites. Frankly, the extent and thoroughness of unit/system and system integration testing conducted nowadays is debatable. There have been cases where product owners accept high severity defects, concur on a treatment plan, with a scheduled hotfix release to production well after the initial release has been deployed.
